Property & Conveyancing
Weir & Associates has assisted clients in projects and transactions involving parties and/or properties situated in Hong Kong, the Asia Pacific Region, North America, Australia and Europe. We have handled not only individual purchase and sale transactions for residential and commercial matters, but also large-scale development projects. Property transactions conducted by our Hong Kong office include sale and purchase of commercial blocks, residential blocks, commercial shops, complexes, and several hundred parking spaces.
Internationally, we have acted on many major commercial and residential property projects across Mainland China (Shenzhen, Zhongshan, Guangzhou and Shanghai). Beyond China, our reach has more recently included parties and/or properties in Macau, Canada, United States, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Portugal and Spain. We are supported by solicitors located in the host country with whom we enjoy ongoing working relationships. Typically on international transactions we lead the finalisation of the property holding structure and act as project solicitors in Hong Kong with solicitors in the host jurisdiction to finalize conveyances. With our substantial international experience, we also act as supporting counsel for foreign lawyers involved in international purchases, financings and leases.
Additionally, we assist clients in arranging mortgages by utilizing our strong relationships with international banks, including many North American and European banks, with offices in Hong Kong. Subject to income proof, these banks typically grant mortgages to Hong Kong residents aspiring to purchase properties abroad. With our established track record, we have gained approval to represent over 50 financial institutions in mortgage, loan and/or litigation matters.
Weir & Associates has lawyers qualified to practice in various jurisdictions including Hong Kong, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Singapore and Sri Lanka. Our support staff is fluent in languages including Cantonese, Mandarin, Hakka (and other Chinese dialects), English, Singhalese, Nepalese, Urdu, Hindi, Bengali and Tagalog. We also have working associations with foreign law firms in Asia, Australia, Europe and North America. Within Mainland China, we have associations with law firms in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Xiamen.
